A "side flow" bulkhead will get reasonably 1/3 the flow of a vertical standpipe...
1 1/4" gets 900gph so your looking at 300...is that enough...?

Your right I will do 2. I would rather have to much than having my fuge overflow.
Thank you here is a small pic of my design I am not sure that is where I am going to run the skimmer but I am trying to do what ever it takes to all but eliminate micro bubbles. plus I want to do this right so I have minimal maintance with my tank.

Thank you for the help here is another pic the sump I have already has the baffels and the section on the left is to small for my skimmer so that is why I have it hanging over the baffel. Here is how I will prob run it thank you again for your help

Squidd I fail to see why you would split a single overflow that way, why not run a sump with a directional flow from one end to the other?

Okay, quick question.
If you know your desired flow through the fuge, why not just have that be the approximate flow. I didn't think there were flow requirements on a sump normally.

That would be OK "IF"...
Fuge was sized properly to allow turnover rate of fuge to be slow enough for skimmer recycling AND be high enough for efficient use of return pump and overflow capacity...
Easier to adjust each seperatly..to account for multiple variables...
