DIY Sump

Alright so hubby and i are starting the diy sump... we are planning on getting like a 3 drawer cabinet system... Wanting to put live rock in one drawer lava rock in another and carbon in the third I know i want to add some sponges or filter media, which is best and how should i stack these.... like which one in top drawer 2 nd and 3rd.... any help will be appriated... Right now i just have a hob filter and its doing wonderfull

If you are going to use any live natural filters ie sponges than it should be in the first section. LR also. Then you will make the most of the mechanical filters to clean up what is left over. Also make sure you have alot of flow around the sponges, they are not so easy to keep but if the conditions are right they will work well for your system.
