DIY tank...

ok, this may be a stupid question, but just out of curiosity, has anybody tried to build a hexagon, or octogonal tank.... or for that matter any non rectangular/square tank???
I just thought It would be fun, I know I got some extra plexi at my dads, maybe I could try a real small one there 5gal max, my only concern would be the angles for the corners might be weaker than a straight 90 degree angle.... any comment on this?

I've never done it but you're right, sounds like a fun project. Regarding the corners, I don't think there will be any difference in the strength of the corners since you're using acrylic, might be a little difference if you were trying to do it in a wood/glass combo.
Go for it and keep us up to date with pics!
Good luck,
Paul

Hmm, a very interesting idea!! Maybe I can consider doing that next time when I want to get a new tank. But a non-rect/square tank is tough, especially the hood I think. Even right now I am trying to make myself a hood for the rect tank and I am already having some trouble. Maybe I can convince my friend to DIY a tank. I wonder how much I can save.
