Ive been trying to get the time to take a pic. The eel went in my overflow last night,I had the hardest time getting him out,then by the end of the ordeal he made it into my sump. Tonight I had to take 300 lbs of live rock and gobs and gobs of Chaeto out of a 150 gallon sump and drain it in order to catch the eel and put him back into the tank. That was after 3 hours of trying to get him out without completely dismantling the sump. The tank is cloudy as can be, so whenever it clears I will take some pics and post them. Ill post a pic of the one I believe is a yellow margin and maybe you guys can make an ID.
FWIW,dont hesitate to buy a BDE they are very cool eels. I paid $100 for mine but they are normally around $200+.

that really sucks bet u needed a beer after that one!!!! are there any fish in with them? + what sz tank sorry about all the questions but i like to do my homework before i get into something thanx

Your Goldentail and Jeweled are awesome, how big and old is the Goldentail, and how is his tempermant?

Yeah you could say that. I ended up going to the store afterwards and getting me a 6 pack of Corona's :)
No fish as of now,this tank in Particular has only been setup for a few days. It is a 60 gallon Acrylic tank with a 150 gallon sump.Something I have thrown together to house them until my 600 gallon is finished being setup. The eels have been at a friends house for 6 months and he had to take his tank down,so now I have them back.

Thanks you. The Goldentail was one of my favorites,his colors were so vivid and perfect. Unfortunately I lost him when I moved into my new house. I had a Faulty heater that cooked my tank,lost all my triggers,my goldentail,and a chainlink eel. I was devastated to say the least. Only survivors was my Jeweled eel and a Orange Toadfish.

Ok heres some pics...Maybe you guys can tell me what the Yellow w/black spots eel is. He has some MEAN teeth like a Hawaiian/Japanese Dragon and is definately a fish eater. Im thinking he is a Yellow Margin but I am not certain.
So here is my Jeweled,Brazilian and my "Yellow Margin?" eels.....This tank is so cool I cant wait till they are cruising around my 600 gallon causing Havoc.

A guy told me about the Stout Moray or Abbots Moray. The scientific name is Gymnothorax eurostus. I think this is what my eel is after seeing the pics. According to the info I found they only reach between 20-24" which is alot better then 4-5' that a Yellow Margin would get.

Thanks Guys. I really like these eels. Only one I have left to buy is a Hawaiian Dragon and I will be set for eels in my 600 gallon.If I ever find a Goldentail as nice as the one I had before I may get one of those also.

This is not a kidako, because kidako has white eyes. Yours has dark eyes. Nice eel by the way.

Your right.I realized that once I saw Abbot's/Stout Moray. Thanks.
