Do Airstones Create Current? Are They Good For Tank?

I KNOW GOOD CURRENT IS IMPORTANT. JUST WONDERING, ARE AIR STONES AND WANDS GOOD FOR CREATING CURRENT AND ARE THE BUBBLES GOOD FOR THE TANK/FISH. I HAVE A FLUVAL 305 CANISTER AND A LARGE AIR PUMP THAT RUNS A 6 INCH STONE AND A 18 INCH WAND IN A 55 GALLON TANK. THERE SEEMS TO BE ALOT OF CURRENT IN THE TANK. I AM GOING TO PICK UP A SKIMMER TODAY. WILL THIS BE SUFFICENT FOR MY 55 GALLON? ALL I HAVE IN THE TANK RIGHT NOW IS A CLOWN, A DAMSEL, TWO CRABS, FOUR SNAILS AND ONE FLOWER ANEMONE.

Airstones and wands are no good for your tank. To promote good current you want to use powerheads. The bubbles from airstones can cause popeye for for your fish.

as far as I know Airstones are bad for fish(so are caps) The bubbles can get stuck to there gills...so from what I have heard bubblers are a no no...Search on here for 'Microbubbles" or Airstones...Your answer will rest there...

Airstones aren't the best thing for saltwater tanks ... they contribute to saltcreep buildup and I've heard they're not beneficial to fish either. As far as current, you'd be much better off with a couple of powerheads.
