I have been running a CPR Aqua Fuge Pro for over a year now, the skimmer works good (better than a seaclone and is built in) pulls out over a qt of scum over a week. I lost all of my macro algae about 3 months ago (not sure why) all chem. levels were good (maybe to good) not enough nutrients for it to survive as I was told by the LFS. May have also trimmed out a little to much but still believe that it was to good on the chem. levels.
I keep mangroves in it also, I tried to do about 4 for the size of the tank, (more variation and different positions) I just replaced all of them and now have 6 small ones 4 to 6 inches tall and 3 large 8 to 12 inches.
Contents:
40 lbs of live sand
15 lbs of live rock rubble
9 Red Mangroves
Chaetomorpha (brillo and spaghetti types)
2 brittle stars
2 emerald crabs
6 or so turbo snails
Tons of pods
Seen a few mini stars
I am looking to start a much larger tank in the next few weeks (180 gallons) and will more than likely go with a wet dry filter and 2 CPR Pros under it, they are a mini system and alot of people like to look at them as the life in them and they seem to be very beneficial.
My skimmer has almost stopped pulling scum, I empty the collection cup about every two weeks and it has only about 3 to 4 oz of scum, (I attribute the scum reduction to the Mangroves) Mangroves have grown about 2 inches since the begining of December, 3 larger ones are laying on the rock pile and have hairy roots and have had several leaves. The other 6 are planted in the sand and have grown about the same with several leaves apiece.
As for the Mangroves I ordered them off ---- (seller id) 721 or thru his ---- Store PACIFIC SEEDS. Send him a email and tell him the size you want. Very easy to work with.
