Do Bio Balls slurp up cupramine?

Hi, I'm trying to dose this QT with copper but it seems like i'm putting in so much more cupramine than it's says on the bottle and the test shows low levels still.
could it be that the bio balls absorb it? or maybe to much sand?
it's like a 80 gallon all-in-one with enough sand to cover the bottom and lots of bio balls in the back.

Cupramine is strong. It needs to be dosed EXACTLY as it says on he bottle. What kind of test kit do you have? Are you reading it correctly? The reason that you are supposed to add smaller doses at first is to allow the fish to get acclimated to the copper. Copper can be lethal to fish.

not knowing the polymer you bioballs are made of I can only go out on a limb. But yes IMO bio balls can definatly absorb serious amounts of copper, then it will leach them back out so chances are you'll go from LOW reading to the level your shooting for to serious OD. you should not be dosing copper with any signifigant amounts of media, including but not limited to live rock, sand, silicone, polyfiber, acrylic, ceartain types of carbon, any plastics, all mentioned can absorb and re-release copper. except carbon attaches through adsorption not absorption but you get what I mean.

Yeah, i have the right test kit(sea chem) and started dosing small.
It's gotta be the bio balls, they're big one with a lot of surface area.
I think it's a clear for life all-in-one style tank ball probably came with; Don't know anything else about them.

Doesn't cupramine kill your bio-filter anyways making bio-balls unnecessary?
I was tempted to just pull 'em out in the first place too. I'm just soo lazy
