do cleaner shrimp clean clowns?

this is just out of curiosity.. because i have a cleaner and have yet to see it clean the clown in my tank. do they clean clowns? or will the clown not let it clean him?

My cleaner shrimp don't clean any of the fish.

Hey Alyssia!!! Fish Fiend, My shrimp clean everyone. They are always busy. If you are concerned you may want to try a neon goby though. My shrimp leave scars on the fish because they pick them clean a bit roughly. I have heard the gobies are more gentle.

hmm okay.. ill just have to keep an eye out for one then.. i havnt seen any at my LFS lately.

Mine will clean whatever fish comes up to them. It's usually on my Hippo. The blenny likes the neon gobies.

My cleaner shrimp hops on any fish who swims near it, my clown always steered clear of the shrimp, the only fish that doesn't shy avoid my cleaner is my angel, think its cause my cleaner is to rough.

Also cleaner shrimp are great to watch, but I talked to a Marine Biologist who said there have been studies on cleaner shrimp and they actually hold no benefit to the fish, the fish let them clean them because it feels good. I have 2 cleaner shrimp, the only thing that will let them clean it is my pink spotted watchman and my chocolate chip star. but if you want them to clean something, stick your hand in the tank near the shrimp and they will clean you. =)

My cleaner will try and run them down so he can clean them but my clowns won't have anything to do with him.

I was watching a program on the great barrier reef a couple nights ago and the guy put a cleaner shrimp in his mouth and it cleaned hiss teeth lol
