do cleaner shrimp need to be a mated pair?

do cleaner shrimp need to be a mated pair? i bought 2 of them about 4 days ago after 2 days one was dead. i went and got another today and they follow each other but act like there fighting some of the time? none of my inhabitants would have killed the one i did have.

I don't think cleaner shrimp need to be mated pair but I'm not sure. I do know cbs need to be mated pair or they will fight.

Cleaners do not need to be in a pair. They are bisexual. If they were, they would fell more comfy and showy. But, what killed your other cleaner? Was it your Temp, trate, Trite, Ammonia, pH, salinity, not aclamating long enough,ect? You have to find out what killed him. If something is wrong with your water, get the shrimp out of there! Before you get any other invert, find out what killed the first one.

Hey @, post back after you checked the water. I will be more then glad to help you. How long has your tank been setup?

@,Did you change your name? if you did and your water is fine...How long did you aclamate them? I know sometimes if you dont aclamate them long enough, they will die. If you did aclamate them for over 30 min. maby it just died, for no reason. You probably got a bad one from your lfs. I know i can't help you here, im stumped. <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" />
