My pearl bubble coral has been doing great for the last few weeks but when I got home tonight and it's shrunken and expelling mucus material. I'm wondering if it's waste? Do I need to perform a water change? Water is fine so far and my other corals are ok. Please let me know. thanks, frank.

Hey, its prob just purging itself of extra Zooxanthellae, this is normal for corals that have been put in a new environment....is it like a brownish stringy type excretion.....if it is it is prob what is happing....is your tank much brighter than the one in the store you bought it from?

BTW.....Zooxanthellae is what corals use in the production of food....via Photosynthesis....the less light you have the more Zooanthellae that the coral needs to produce enough food and the more light the less they need to produce the same amout of food! cool huh! :D
