Cool. Does this mucus sheild help them stay healthy. What I mean is when they does off it creates a time were their body can recharge like ours, in this cause mucus and what ever else?...
More good info, Thanks.

Effectively this "bubble" is like a sleeping bag or tent, and it is thought to hide the smell of the fish from predators that may come across it.

So how can you tell if they are in a state of "rest" or not besides color and such. Because some fish seem it would be hard to tell.
Thanks.

That is very true...in many species it might be very difficult to ever know, because the concept is different than in humans or many other animals (stop moving and shut eyes).

Wow, I didn't know that. Thanks for adding. But if it a shark as a predator then the "bubble" would be a tad pointless, sense they sense the electromagnetic wave give off by living things???..
Thanks.

ahh...so basically we just have to take our best guess when a fish is "sleeping" or not.
Thanks.

lol the answer is still no, fish dont "sleep" liek we do but there are lots and lots of different ways fish can rest. soem stay still, soem dont, some hide in holes, some make their own, some just find a cave and keeping moving but in a more restfull way then when they are very active during thier normal feeding times.
