Do I need a filter?

I am setting up a 90 gallon. I have 3 Maxi-jet 900's, a Red Sea PS, and a sump under the tank. What would be the best HOB or in sump filter? Do I need a filter? I was thinking of an Aquaclear 110.

Are you putting in a skimmer??
If you have a skimmer, then no, a filter is not needed. In fact, you'll notice most salt water aquariasts filter ONLY with a skimmer and sometimes a fuge as well.

aquaclears are very very good so i would go with the 110

Yes I have a Red Sea Deluxe protein skimmer

I always run HOT filters on my systems. I have skimmers as well, but I like having the mechanical and chemical filtration that a filter provides.
I personally use the Whisper filters. Inexpensive, reliable (mine is 8 years old and runs perfect) and the filter media is widely available and cheap.
You just have to be sure and replace the filter pads every 10-14 days to avoid buildup of biological waste which will be counterproductive.
