Do I need to replace my MH and PC bulbs?

Hi, I bought my light fixture in the big

[hr]
site about 6 months ago from another reefer the unit is the Aqualight Pro HQI/Compact Fluorescent/Lunar Light Fixture, I am not sure how long he used them before he turned them to me...
2 x MH 150w
2 x PC 96w Actinic
Should I be changing the bulbs at this time??? how often should they be changed?

I am uncertain if they should be changed but would imagine they would need to be if he had it 6 months and you have been using it 6 months but I just don't know for sure.
I am curious how much did you pay for them and what kind of condition could you pm me with that thanks.

I'd switch them just to be on the safe side. I bought the same fixture here used and have it now running on my 75.

that is what I am thinking too!!! is there any way to test the output they put out????

You can have a tester, but your best bet is checking out Sanjay's lighting reef site and look for the ballast/bulb combination. Every combination produced different PAR and lux.

Are you getting any algae blooms?? Cause that'd be a first indicator to me that new bulbs are in order.
If you can afford it, switch em. If not, save a little each week til you can I'm sure it will not hurt your critters to wait a bit.

I do have to clean the front glass every other day from a thin layer of green, nothing on the rocks or substrate.... I think I will follow your advice and get new ones!!!
