Do i run carbon?

hey guys,
I justg got a fluval 304 to gradually replace my noisy HOb filter...And it is going ont he 20 long for now but will eventually go going to the 38 cube...but anyways, I was wondering if I should run carbon or not, (its a mixed reef). What are the effects of carbon on a reef?

if it's a mixed reef.... you had better use carbon.
there will be chemical warfare.
