Do i take the shell off the shrimp?

the shrimp for the ammonia cycle, does the shell need to come off

yes clean it and shell it. It will start to smell a little so I ran my skimmer to help. After 7 days I removed mine. Worked great

I didn't shell mine. I just left it on and dropped it into the tank. I didn't clean it either.

I will not hurt anything.I did the same thing untill I read a very good post by 007. so far 7 weeks into it all is good.

We tossed our shrimp in whole by the time DH removed it, it was basically a shell anyway and the tank was well on it's way to cycling. (After about 2 weeks.)
