I have a group of red and blue mushrooms, and they seem to be getting bigger, BUT do they multiply?

I have had this tank about 5 months, I bought it as an existing setup and it was a year old then.

More importantly, how do you get them to stop multiplying?
Seriously, I started out with about 8 shrooms and a year or so later I had well over 100.

Mine let go of where the were at and roll around the tank attach some where else. Ever time they let go a little shroom sprouts up kinda cool until you have shrooms everywhere.

This rock had two red mushrooms about 1 year ago. If you look at the rock, and especially at the big mushroom in the middle...this is the "mother" mushroom, all of the smaller ones are the babies.
I have also enclosed a pic of the same rock under moon lights, and you can see the mother mushroom almost oozing, this is also a way of multiplying.
Florida Joes idea of the mood music must be the way they do it...........

I guess the smaller mushrooms must be from the bigger one then...I kind of got it that way...I put a small piece of rock against the mushrooms, hoping that maybe one will move to it...does anyone think that will work?

Any species that doesn't do everything in its power to multiply is probably long gone before you ever got the chance to know its name!

You may not believe this, but I found this out by accident...
I was using a turkey baster as I had a dragon goby that kept making a mess of things, he has since swam into my overflow so I flushed him into the refugium, so no more mess...
But during this time, where I had to clean the rock daily, over time my couple mushrooms in one area are now like 12, another area has multiplied also.
There is no scientific evidence, but the larger direct flow of water over the mushrooms may of made them split, or something.
Try it, if you want, let us know if it worked for you also

HA! Yes they do multiply...i started with about 4 of them in my 55 Gal. They are going crazy all over tank and if u look at the pics, attached to the back glass of my tank.

I have had some mushroooms for over a year now and its nothing like that for me. Mine seem to stay put, not move, or grow alot.
Oh well only time will tell.

Wow, that's ridiculous...mmmm, I have the same problem with xenias (@#$@$@#%). Not on my glass because mercifully I can scrape those off during cleaning and water changes, but they are nonetheless ALL OVER MY TANK!!

yah, tell me about it..I just grab them off the glass and chuck them in my 180..let them float on their own and attach to something... I also did the belender experiment that was posted on here earlier...rough chopped one in a blender, dumped the "chum" im my 180 ..and 2 weeks later I had tiny shrooms growing all over the place...
