I bought 3 peppermints 3 days ago and since putting them in my tank, I have yet to see them. I know they are very small, but for those with them, will I atleast see them here and there???

Dude i have 3 in my 55 and they are everywhere. They hang under the rocks until i drop food in,and then they scamper out and run around trying to catch flakes. The one even floated/swam up to the top of the tank and took the food right off the surface! :scared: it was sweet.

Peppermint Shrimp are nocturnal by nature. If you start hand feeding them you can train them to come out in the day.

Give them time to get settled in. You will see them all the time. I have 2 that are all over the tank all the time.

Mine is a thief! He waits for feeding time and then steals brine shrimp from my cup coral.

My two are always out begging for handouts. If you walk by the tank they scamper out from the rocks and demand to be fed. They will take food right out of my fingers or steal it from anybody else who is getting fed.

About 10 days now and I still haven't seen them, not even during feeding..... I tried looking for them at night with a flashlight, but still no sign of them. When I bought them they were only about 1/4 - 1/2 in. I wonder if that is why I can't find them????

Get yourself a cheap flashlight and color the lens red with a permanent marker, or even better if you have a flashlight with a red lens. Then at night time after the lights have been off for a ferw hours, put some food in the tank. You will see them with the red light. For some reason, the red light does not scare the fish.

I finally saw one of the three come out this morning from behind a rock. 2 questions.....1) since they are nocternal in nature, should I be dropping in pellets at night???--hikari algae pellets- r they ok???
2) If I saw one, does that mean that the other 2 are close bye, since I think they stay in groups????

I have 3 that I rarely see, since adding a Coral Beauty! I know they are still alive because 2 have shed in the last couple of days. My CB chased one and after that they all went into hiding. :happyfish

I just got one for my 30 gallon tank and have since learned that they like to be social with other peppermint shrimp. Does anyone think that having two is too many for a 30 gallon?

Mine is very social. Had him about 2 months. He sits in full view all day and does his swaying back and forth thing. If I put my hand near him he will climb onto my hand and even go up my arm. A little startling at first, I must admit, as he does it with such speed.
