do shrimp ever abandon ship ?

I had a fire shrimp in my tank for quite a while and i cant seem to find him anywhere, i looked all through the tank and behind/around it
I have 3 green chromis
1 blue damsel
2 anenomes
1 coral beauty
1 fake percula clown
1 peppermint shrimp
1 cleaner shrimp
1 pom pom crab that seems to be pregnant has a large orange clump underneath it
and a few dwarf hermit crabs

What size tank do you have? I only have a 55 gallon, which is considered small, and there are some critters in the tank that I go days, if not weeks without seeing. Keep in mind I only get about 1-2 hours a day to look at the tank. Regardless, just test your nitrates every 2-3 days. If you get a positive reading, do a good 20% water change.

did a thourough cleaning today( scheduled ) nitrates nitrite amonia calcium ( even though i have no corals ) salinity so on so forth all good and i found that he found a nice little cave to hide in faceing the back of my tank, thanks for the advice though. one last thing though is once a week sufficiant for testing all that stuff, and before i add corals are there any other tests that youd reccomend ?

Good values to be aware of for reef tanks are also phosphate and magnesium and once a week is fine so go longer without checking those values.

I also forgot to say pH which is very important.
