They can co-exist in a tank. I have 2 yellow tangs, and an undulated trigger. What kind of trigger and tang are you looking to get? What size tank do you have? Both tangs and triggers require a large tank size (atleast 100 gal).

The trigger fish that I like to get is a Picasso Trigger. That is the fish I like to get if you know that these work with Tangs.

Not always...each fish is different. I have a friend that had a yellow tang. He added a Huma and within an hour the tang lost an eye. My friend took the trigger back the next day and the tang lived....until it came down with a bad case of ick and cloudy eye a few weeks later.

How's that trigger getting along with your corals and polyps?
I really haven't had a problem with a Picasso and anything in a fish only tank, but as pointed out, it depends on the fish. Haven't put one in the reef tank, and have no intentions of doing so with any type of trigger.

The reply is a little off topic to the original topic, but
I'm not aware of any invert, snail or crab that a trigger won't eventually go after. It's just nature at work. If you go to the homepage here to the left and click on information for hobbyists, there is a thorough and detailed description of pretty much any fish or invert.
As far as my cleanup crew, I've pretty much lost track of what all is in there. I know I have red, blue and left-handed hermits along with emerald crabs. Cerith, nerite, astria, mexican turbos, cortez and bumblebee snails. Probably a few other types too. It was too tough to pick up what I needed from the LFS, so I ended up buying a cleanup crew online. They asked what I had, what I was trying to accomplish, and where the current problem appeared to be and pretty much filled it in for me. In 48 hours the tank looked sterilized, so it must have worked. Most snails and crabs have a strong point in what they do, and that is the best way to decide on what you need.
I received an order form SWF.com yesterday and was very happy with it.

I have a picasso with a hippo tang and an orangesoulder tang and there isn't really any problem. The trigger was a little agitated when the hippo was first introduced but nothing after that. I also have a nother picasso in with a powderblue and they do not bother each other. In addition, I've kept a niger trigger with an atlantic blue tang and my uncle has a sohal tang, yellow tang, 2 hippos, and a sailfin tang all together with a clown trigger and they get along fine. So yes it definitely can be done, I would probably add the trigger last though.

I would make sure that the trigger is smaller than the tang.I am going to buy a small niger trigger ( I have a 3-4 inch tellow tang) and I am more worried about my 4.5 inch domino damsel bothering it than anything else.
