Do ya'll take of the plecky glass under your light bulb?

I have a Current PowerCompact w/ a 96 watt Smartpaq 10000K/460nm light bulb. My tank is is 22" deep and my light sits 3 inches from my water. So roughly 25 inchs, Do ya'll take off your plecky glass for better lighting? Mines not bad, but I want full potential you know

Just make sure that you:
1. Don't burn your corals (sunburn)
2. Don't heat up your water too much
Probably by taking off the glass tops, you will improve gas exchanges...

Hi,
The material between the bulbs and fish tank (Plexiglas) are an added precaution to prevent the salt from building up on the bulbs, and water from splashing up and shorting out the lights.
Some people put their lights on legs to hold it off of the tank and some people hang their lights. If you do that then salt won't build up, and the danger of shorting them out with a splash is minimal.
The original design, just places the whole fixture over the edges of the tank. So if you have your compacts resting on the tank keep the Plexiglas in place, otherwise it isn't needed.

jayking232003 is talking about the small plexiglas strip that is on a runner attached to the Powercompact lights. Not the glass tops that I use.
