if you do, how often do you go in and brush or blow or whatever methods to clean the rock? I just went in and used the tank toothbrush and started brushing off those green mossy problem I've been having for months now and gosh, the rocks are dusty!! No wonder my 2 filters are so clean. All the crazy stuff built up on the rocks.

Negative...I have never touched the lr. I have many tangs to eat the green hair algea, inverts to clean up the rest.

I go around with a turkey baster and blow the brown junk into my siphon tube. As long as you do it slow you should be about to get most of the stuff out with no problem. I wouldn't scrub the rock in the main tank. If you want to clean it, which I wouldn't, take it out of the tank and clean it then use old tank water to rinse it.

I occasionally turkey baster mine. I wouldn't remove and scrub it unless you have a serious algae issue and that would be a last resort. (if you do decide to scrub it always use saltwater)
The green mossy stuff is feeding off food in your water column. Fix that and your green mossy stuff will prolly go away.
Do you skim?
Do you use RO water?
What is your water change frequency?
What do you feed?
What lights do you have?

why do you think it's not good to brush LR in the tank?
I cannot move most of my LR because each one of them is huge and they are interlocked into each other. I brushed my rocks 30min ago and the tank is nice and clean now. I have 3 good filters to do the work.

Spores you just scrubbed off float around and spread your algae.

well, I have nothing to lose when I scrubbed up those god awful green layer cux they are taking over my tank. I scrubbed them off for now, then I will find a way to reduce them down to minimal in time (hopefully). I am going to read that article now. Thank you

Scrubbing it off is only a temporary solution; it will grow back. You need to find out what's causing it and fix that.

I let me cleaning crew take care of it. I add more cleaners every once in awhile but does a good job.
