do you count total gallons?

If I have a 105 gallon tank, a 20 gallon sump about 1/2 full of water and a 10 gallon refugium...can I stock it like a 125 gallon tank?
If you use the 1"/5 gallon rule could I have 4" more fish? Or do you just count the main tank when using this rule?

IMO you would just count the main tank. Normally when people are talking about the 1" per 5 rule the reason is so the fish can have room to move without bothering each other.
