Drip method then quarentine is the absolute recomended method, But I do the float the bag, add water and dump method, ONLY BECAUSE my L.F.S water and my water change water are on the same system.

Drip acclimating is a much gentler more even process of acclimation. Instead of a lot of small shocks, (everytime you add water to the bag you drastically change the water chemistry in the bag) it is a very gradual change when drip acclimating (water chemistry is slowly changed to match your tank.)
You may get away with just adding water to the bag a few times, but in the long run you will probably lose less fish if you get in the habit of drip acclimating.

I use a turkey baster to add small amounts of water to the bag at 5 minute or so intervals, and usuallly acclimate for about an hour.

Hi, I take a pitcher or other plastic container, pour the fish in, and slowly add tank water maybe a half a cup every 15 minutes or so. When the water in the container gets too full I will pour a little out in the sink (carefully), and continue to pour small amounts of aquarium water in every few minutes. Do this for an hour or a little longer and then I hold the container over the tank and scoop the fish/creature into the tank with my hand. I do not like to net a fish as I have had bad luck with scales or fins etc. getting damaged by nets. Try not to get much of the water from the container into your tank as it may carry disease organisms....oh yea, I forgot, if you quarenteen like you are suppose to you can just flip the container and let the fish swim out! I like to do all this while keeping the house temp at aleast 75 degrees so that the water in the container is near the tank temp. I find that if one is not quarenteening that the float the bag method does not work too well as the opened bag often sinks in the tank. Lesley

A lot of LFs will use additives in there holding tanks such as copper so I would not attempt to acclimate the fish with the bag floating in your DT.
Empty the bag and fish into a bucket and then test the LFS water. If the levels closely match that of your tank adding a few cups of water from your DT over a half hour to forty five minutes will suffice for acclimation IMO.
If levels are to far apart drip acclimate until levels equal out. Don't add the LFS water to your tank and as was said best case scenario is to Qt the fish before introduction to your DT.
