Those are some long flights... beware of the bird flu. Unfortunately the market has hurt so many pilots. It's sad because pilots have such a unique skill and take such a risk everyday. On another note, I hope you have someone to take care of your fish while you're away.
I am fully aware of the bird flu, and we do take serious precautions to avoid all this. Airport authorities have the right to pull someone aside and check them over for it, and possibly quarantine. I honestly don't consider it a risk. Yes, it can be dangerous, but for me, its a passion. Its tough being away from my wife and two daughters all the time though. But luckily I get several days, possible a week or even two in between flights. By US law, pilots can only fly a certain amount of hours each month, and when you fly the long routes as I do, your hours are used up quickly. Don't worry, my wife takes care of my tank while I am gone. I trust her....sort of. LOL...she is very good at taking care of it.
