I have the upgraded 4.36 upgrade on my biocube and I was curious as to people run their lighting? Do you run the daylight, the 50/50, and 2 actinics all at the same time? Or is that too much lighting? Do I just run the Daylight and the 50/50? Thanks for any help

If the temperature doesn't spike I recommend running all bulbs for at least 4 hours. Outside of that run them how it looks best to you. Corals do require several hours of darkness every day though.

You spike my curiosity...I run actinic 12 hours...I run along with actinic MH lights 4 hours on, 4 hours off, then 4 hours on again...all lights except moonlights off for 12 hours.
Are you suggesting total darkness thru the day?? Is my light schedule Okay?

im pretty sure your light is ok. since many of us have a different light schedule. i think he means like in the middle of the day for like 2-3 hours to have complete darkness. my corals feed off at night or when the lights are off. so idk.

Again, should I shut all lights off in the middle of the day if I shut them down at night for 12 hours?

i get what he means and why but idk how to explain it. im sorry. this is what i do with my light:
2-11pm actinics are on.
3-6pm MH turn on. 6-8pm MH off. 8-11pm MH are on.
1-2pm moonlights 11-12pm moonlights
i guess that what he means

I'm not suggesting total darkness nor turning lights off during the day.
A period of darkness with little more than a couple leds or ambient moonlight. I just don't want new hobbiests thinking that keeping a few hundred watts of actinic on at night counts as a dark period.
