Do Zoo's hibernate?

I know my water's good cuz I just tasted it.
Everything else is wide open, but, most of my Zoo's are closed. I have several rocks covered with them and just recently at any given time 95% are closed ( ones that were closed yesterday are open today and vs/vrs ). Is this possibly the precurser to a spawn? or, am I stupid and missing something simple.
thanks in advance for any info.

Welcome to the forum, this is a great place for all questions and help.
Zoas, they can be funny as I have found out. But if they are not opening up as I have found you need to find out the reason for it.
You will be asked to post all your readings first of all.
Then if you can list what other corals, fish, inverts etc you have in the tank would be of great help.

Weirdest thing last night. I walked in the house and saw my zoos packing bags and asked where they were going and they said too hibernate...
Ok bad joke

I would say to the OP'ers initial question... no they do not hibernate.. they close at night and open during the day. If you have noticed a decline in their responsiveness to light I would recommend looking into a cause. Irritation or consumption from a zoa parasite would be the worst case scenario IMO. Other irritants could be hemits picking, flat worms bothering, change of flow in the tank. New lights or new bulbs, shorter or longer photo period. Aside from the common water quality issues that is. Other times it cannot be explained and zoa's just melt away with no real reason. I have seen and heard this happen many times. An Iodine dip may help if there is an unseen issue.

Thanks PDark. Didn't even think of pests. After looking at the preditor thread I found out what all those new little critters in my tank are... Nudi's.
Gonna warm up the tweezers and go pluck'n.
