Does a 30 gallon tank need a skimmer

No it does not but it does help water quality.

It's not needed, as stated above.. but highly recommended. If you dont get a skimmer.. I recommend good size water changes weekly. at minimum I would do 50%

I got a skimmer and it's worked well -- well actually it's making me work -- have to empty out the cup with yuckie stuff 1x every 2 - 3 weeks!!

I have a 37 gal system, and I just put my skimmer in about a week and a half ago. Believe me, you would definitely see the difference in your tank before the first week is up that your skimmer is in!! Very well worth the investment!!!

I have a skimmer rated for 90g in my 30g. I love it!!! you can tell the difference big time!!

Skimmers are a must for reefs. As for fish only tanks...highly highly recomended

I just added a skimmer to my 16gallon tank..it might be overkill but I've seen a huge improvement in water quality.
