A quarantine tank cannot have live rock, live sand, or coral in it, since hypo/medications will kill all three of these things. On top of that, when they do die and you are trying to treat a sick fish, you will deal with terrible ammonia levels from the die off.

I agree. A qt is plain and simple. Nothing live in there. You could use a thin layer of aqurium sand if need be, a few pieces of PVC, a filter, and a heater. You may need a powerhead if the qt is larger than 10 gallons.

thats kind of what i figured just wanted to make sure
so a tank like that is only taken out to dose and put new additions in for a time being
right?
so i can go cheap on one of these cool

and i can take the extra money to set up me a 12-24 gallon nano in my computer room

I dont keep my hospital or QT tank up all the time. Whenever I need it, I just drain water from my DT for the QT and then top the DT off with new water. Theres no sense in running a tank all the time that only sees occassional use. Just a simple 10 gallon with a heater and small power filter. No live rock, no substrate. I do have a piece of plastic rock decoration for the fish to hide behind. I only set it up when needed.
