Does Anybody own the Coralife Super Skimmer 65g?

Yes, the parts that go in the tank. I am building a sump, and need to know how much room I need in the first compartment.

Box = 4-1/4"x3"x4-1/2"
Pump = 7"x2-1/2"x6"
The height over the pump is probably 5-1/2" to 6". I couldn't actually get my hand in there that well because of its placement on my tank and the fact my cleaner loves to visit me anytime my hand goes in there.

What do you mean the pump? The thing with the intake? Could you specify height width and length please.

The pump shoots water into your skimmer so it can skim. I don't think the coralife 65 (at least the one i have) came with one. The skimmer is 4.25 x 5.5 x 20.75. The pump will probably double the footprint, but it can be placed with flexible tubing, so as long as your chamber is at least 10 inches you should find room for it. You'll have to buy the pump separately unless it's used or is some sort of package deal. Either way, it's variable and we can't tell you exactly what its dimensions will be.

I posted them as LxWxH
The Box is the bubble difuser box. The pump is whats pulling water into the skimmer. That grey thing with the nozzle sticking out. The pump can be placed higher of lower in your tank depending on the piece of tubing use (they give you different sizes) and how high up you place the skimmer.

I need the sizes because I can only fit a 10g under my tank, so I need to use the skimmer as a hang on, in the sump. Can one go over the other? Perferibly I would like it to fit into a 5x10 area, but I can make it wider if nessesary, do you think it will work?

Have you already bought this skimmer? If not, I might suggest you consider a different one for the purpose you're describing. The Coralife SuperSkimmer--particularly if it's going to be sitting outside of your sump--is dangerous. It has an unfortunate tendency to fill up and overflow quite suddenly and unpredictably. This is not a huge deal if it's sitting completely within the confines of your sump, as the water will just overflow back into the sump (the only bad thing being that it will put all that waste back into your system). But if it's sitting all or part outside the sump, the overflow will run out onto the floor. I had this happen, and it was a disaster...ten+ gallons of water ran out onto my wood floors and down into my basement by the time I got home to discover it. Very expensive.
For your application, and given that you really need a hang on time skimmer, I would highly recommend the AquaC Remora. It doesn't overflow, but if it ever somehow did it is designed to overflow back into the tank or sump, not out onto the floor.
If you already have the coralife, just be sure to REALLY keep an eye on it! And, if at all possible, set it 100% within your sump.

here are some pic of mine in my 55 horse tank, might be a good idea to drill a hole at the top of the collection cup and run a hose back to the tank for when something spikes and the cup fills fast. Just to prevent the skimmer from emptying your tank.

Really?!?! Has anyone else had this happen?

Would drilling a hole and running tubing work? If so, what diameter tubing should I get to ensure it will drain? I'm going to go look up remoras.

What about the Current USA Fission Power Skimmer for 110g tanks? I know its over-kill, but a little extra skimming never hutrs!

There are better skimmers out there for sure, but I must say When my 55 was setup as a reef, after it was established all I ran was this skimmer with carbon and a nitrite pad in the diffuser, and everything was fine. As for the tube I believe it is 1/2", you can see it in the first pic

By "there are better skimmers" do you mean the coralife or the current?
And could the tubing go sn th top instead of the side so it only overflows if it absolutely needs to? Just the thought of that sludge going back into the tank gives me shivers.

Well you don't want that back in the tank, you could always run it to a 5 gallon bucket or something. I don't think you would be able to run it out of the top because it would leak from around the cap.

A 5g bucket would be ok, exept if you remember what uberlink said, his leaked 10g before he noticed it. The best place for it to go would be a drain, but that won't be do able for alot of people, like me. So, I guess its back into the tank (at least it goes into the sump before the DT). What about the Current skimmer?

I'm sorry but what do you mean by Current Skimmer

If it's another brand I don't know anything about it, I would be leading you astray by commenting, I run this one in my 55 and a aqua euro in my 180. The aqua euro really hauls

I have the coralife 65 in my 40 gal and I must say it was, and still is impossible to get "dialed in" and not throw out a billion microbubbles into the water. I actually had to fill the slots in the bottom of the diffuser cup with silicone, and then fill the rest of the cup with filter media sponge to eliminate the micro bubbles. Thats really the only problem I've had with it, and I think you shouldnt have any problems fitting into a 5x10 space inside your sump as long as you have a good 14 inches of height on the outside of the tank for it to hang. Good luck to you.
