Does anybody throw their trimmed harvested Chaeto..

Back into the display as a treat and to propagate their pod and bristle population again.. OR does that defeat the purpose adding the removed excess nutrients back into the tank? Thanx for replys..

i suppose you could probably swish it off in some (seperate) tank water to get all the goodies off and dump that in. but i dont think i would just toss the cheato inmy DT.

No some people do that as a Tang "treat",,, hence complaining of "curly cue" tang detrius... lol

hah never heard about that. lol. guess i missed the treat part.
i wonder if i should be feeding the tangs in my 29 a little somethin somethin extra... they havent been lookin so good lately.

Tangs are grazers... in small tanks they don't get enough to eat or enough variety. (in addition to the other issues...)

I feed my excess cheeto to my display. - Mind you I have 3 tangs though....

my kole tang doesnt know what to do with chaeto, caleurpa, or even sheets of algae. sea veggies (flaked up algae) on the other hand are one of it's favorite foods.

The first time I did this I threw in a little and they loved it. The second time I grabbed a bunch and put it in a clip in the DT. I guess I grabbed too much because it came out of the clip and floated around the tank. It scared the Bejezus out of the fish. They all hid in the rocks from this floating mass of cheato
