i'll jump on for further replys.
I'm looking at the gulf stream mod, the eco, or algae free mod.
I want to see what other users have to say.
I have a couple of 1200 MJ and a couple of 900 MJ.
anyone want to comment.

The only time my sureflow mods make noise is if I shut them off, when I turn back on sometimes they will spin in the wrong direction, making a lot of noise. They either right themselves in a few seconds or I stick my finger in the noisy PH, stop the impeller, and it spins in the right direction, and no more noise. If it is making noise, it is usually from the impeller stopper, you can trim it back some if you must. Mine are just as quiet now as they were before I modded them. I did have one that took about a week or so before it ran silent like the two other ones I have. I can't speak of the Gulfstream, or the Eco brands. The mods do work best on the 900's-400's(not as noisy for some reason, I really only had one be noisy for about a week, then I guess it wore itself in, didn't do anything to it and now it is as quiet as the others, no buzzing or rattling sounds coming from them) from what I have read. I have 2 modded 1200's and 1 900 modded, all are quiet as can be now. It may just take a little tinkering to quiet them up if too noisy.

we found a compnay called current sea that makes a wave box. Its a nice box and it does an awesome job on my friends tank and i'm going to order the box too, but i don't now if the modded MJ will be affected.
My friend runs four MJ off his box w/o a problem but i wonder if the mods will crap the bed with the box.

Hey Sharkbait9!!!! Does the controller downspin and then upspin the PH's or just shut them on and off?

i have to get a hold of my buddy and ask, dumb a$$ me was so excited to help get it hooked up, i never stopped to check if it does amp down then amp up.
If need be i might just get a MJ mod and hook it up to his controler and see what happens.
I just emailed the company since my friend won't pick up the phone, little prick.

That's funny
I'd be curious as to if it does or doesn't.....I'm tossing ideas around in my head trying to DIY wavebox and Bronco300 has some good drawings, but everyone on that topic or subject is stuck with a controller issue.....

Well the company says that the MJ run fine (as i see with my friends tank) but they are not sure if the mods will get stuck in a vortex since they do shut down power and can cause the mod props to reverse themselves.
So, now I found that seio has a new PH with prop propellers, will be avail soon.
So I may hold off on the mods and check out these new PH.
Combined with the seio wave controller that shuts power down to 50% then ramps them up to 100% this maybe the right way to go.

I would like to have a wave box, but i keeping seeing and hearing people say they shorten the life of a tank, so I don't need that.
I want to achieve a nice flow back and forth to mimic the natural motion under the water, that all is that to much to ask, god the head aches this causes.

i myself i think have come to the conclusion i don't trust using a pump that is not backed by their company to be controllable and able to handle the on off motion...like tunzes controllable pumps, more expensive i know...but man, i hate the idea of a pump burning up in the water, or the noise from pumps like a MJ mod that can't handle in the long run....they have tried MJ on controllers like mentioned and the best so far as been on the seio controller i believe...i have two on one out in the garage but it can be noisey at times in the transition or going high and low...other times it can be nice and quiet....I was going to use the MJ mods for my wavebox but its just too much back pressure with the water trying to get back in the box.....different than just using an on off pump, but nontheless.......now something you may look into are the upcoming Rio Polarios.....they look actually very very awesome and are controllable with dual outlets(alternating back and forth)...do a search for them, i think they are pretty sweet.
isn't the idea of using a pump to push the water back and forth the same as using a wavebox pushing it back and forth?

Waveboxes don't shorten the life of a tank if the tank is built with specs of waveboxes being used......That's why most tank manufacturers when you talk about having a tank built. Tunze recommends if that's your plans to use some type of wavebox to up the sizing of material on tank by 1. hth

I've seen them in mags, but still am leaning towards the Tunzes....Something I might consider for a smaller setup to play with though.....

I thought that too, but some members on -- were saying the wave box is a forced stream against the one side of the tank weakening the one side.
Using PH on both side help to eliminate a "slamming" constant force on the same side.
IDK I have always used PH that were always on.
After reading article after article about the wave pattern and how it stimulates coral growth, I’m buying into the theory.

This is another reason why I tend to not like message boards, people who spout off opinion as fact.
You need to find people who you can trust on a message board can be tough.
But acrylic, scsinet, ophuira and a few more make judgment a little easier.
Always been a firm believer in the K.I.S.S.

I was reading up on both PH. According to TAMM/seio " you can use either of the new pumps on the seio wave controller if you wanted to, but "we highly recommend you use the prop on the wave box for best wave action".
i saw the polario pump and it looks kind of cool looking, but looks don't always cut it.
