i saw the polario pump and it looks kind of cool looking, but looks don't always cut it.

thats what i kind of think...i've never heard fond memories of seio as much as other pumps
as far as the powerhead....i dont know, it still doesnt make much sense to me because instead of having two pumps on one side on and off pushing....you alternate back and forth between one pump on each side...yet you do them opposite of each other timewise so it still creates a wave pattern life the first set up...when you think of rocking a car back and forth like that, it still does the same if you have both people on the front pushing?? maybe thats just me, i dont know..maybe without the box its not enough force to raise the wave as much...

Using PH on both side help to eliminate a "slamming" constant force on the same side.
IDK I have always used PH that were always on.
After reading article after article about the wave pattern and how it stimulates coral growth, I’m buying into the theory.

This is another reason why I tend to not like message boards, people who spout off opinion as fact.
You need to find people who you can trust on a message board can be tough.
But acrylic, scsinet, ophuira and a few more make judgment a little easier.
Always been a firm believer in the K.I.S.S.
I am only stating that they don't shorten tank life because that is 1 thing in particular I stated to the tank builder that the tank had to have, and also talked to Tunze and they made their recommendations as well, and it was ironic, that both were the same.....You have to trust the tank builder in the end, and he knows his business. I honestly haven't heard any horror stories of tanks coming apart due to waveboxes, but if it has happened I'd honestly like to see what type of tanks they were meaning (acrylic or glass) builders, tank specs, and seam quality as well.....Alot of people are Oceanic fans, and I was to at 1 time, but had a tank come apart at the seam and tank was only 5 months old, and I was the original owner. I've seen a big company like that turn out same shaddy work IMO, and I've seen major chain pet stores try to pass the junk off........Again I'd talk to the tank builder and get their recomendations before placing final judgement......

alright so last night i stayed up past my bedtime setting up the new toys.
cleaned out the MJ 900s with vinegar, put in the sureflow mods. placed them in the tank, mounted the wavemaker and hooked them all up (with the existing 1200s /dumas SFs). All internal magnets have been changed to algaefree's plastic cased magnets. i believe i have three 50s and 1 100. the external magnets are the 80 lbs pull force disc mags from gaussboys.com. (these were once the internals as well for the original 2, but began rusting, even though they should not have)

i estimate each side now pushes about 4500 GPH.
experimenting with the wavemaker, i placed the final setting on the timed function for about 10 mins / side. upon switchin i get no loud clicking like they are starting up in reverse or anything of the sort. virtually silent running save for a split second "ta-pfft" noise on engaging.
this wave maker seems to be designed around MJs, and MJ mods, some of you are suggesting that the constant on/off can cause burning out, or other problems? please let me know.

no noise, thats great!...mine made too much it seemed...but there was one with the old impeller so thats a possible cause....from what i've heard there is no real success with these mods on a wavemaker....i think they've only have them on it since they started to come out so not much experience with them i don't think--but hopefully they willl

bronco - you were using sureflows and they made alot of noise? the only time mine made noise was when i tried putting the dumas props on the mj900s. one of them took it no problem, the other one sounded like a click factory that would surely scare my dog ... if i had one.

lol.....yes i have use the sureflows and got the new impellers...i'm using them out in a tub of freshwater water and wavemaker and they make quite a bit of noise when switching on and off or low and high, otherwise they run very well....i've turned them off now because i dont need them going, but otherwise they were loud during those transitions...sometimes theyd be good...trying to think...i think when it went from low to high is the time it would sometimes be silent and be just fine, but going to high to low it seemed to be more noisy and what not

hmm i wonder if its the WM you are using? mine does not have a low / high option i dont think. its just on or off for the sockets.

i wonder if a different mod kit would do better? not sure what difference they would have but maybe its a bit different that it wouldn't have any buzz ing, etc...or maybe MJs just weren't made for it....i don't know
