i just bought a Florida Condi Anemone its a small baby. does anyone have anemones in there smaller tanks too?

I dont think you will find many that do. just FYI and I am sure your gonna get more advice you dont want to hear about this but, your going to have an issue with your purchase and any present or future live stock, these anemones can inflate and become quite large, even though it appears to be small now. It will take no time at all for it to fill your small tank. Also being an atlantic species, there are not many fish that co-exist with them. They can be quite aggressive fish eaters and coral killers due to the length of their tenticles. Becarful when stocking your tank and know that no anemone fish considers an atlantic anemone a natural host.

but i now some people who have successfully kept an anemone in there smaller tanks. my LFS has a 12gal display tank just like mine. he has the same anemone with lots of mushrooms and other similar corals. ive been going to the same LFS for about a year now and he is doing fine. Plus i have perfect water conditions. i dont think its a problem because they sit and stay in one spot or a really long time.

Your 12 gallon nano is too small for the anemone. Anemones don't sit on one spot, they move around alot. Thats the problem in a small tank, they move around alot and can sting and kill all your corals when the anemone touches them.

never mind the anemone, it died.

i added some reef vitamins for my corals, in about 5 mins it shrunk to the size of a dime.
i dont think it had died but i still flushed it cause i didnt want to risk anything else. ive had some bad experiences with anemones even when i had my 50 gal. i could never get it right for anemones, lesson learned

Yes I do have a bubble tip anemone. Do I recommend it, NO the tank is just to small. It is surviving but could be alot bigger. I am waiting for this one to come out of the deep rock it is attached to and its new home is right around the corner from me and it is a 132 gal tank.
So far it has not caused any problems but they truly look their best in bigger tanks. It has split once already and looks like it might do it again which means it is happy.....
I want it to come out, I guess in time it will.
If it is the only thing in your tank you might be able to keep it for a while.

Perfect example why its recomended against, new aquariests not knowledgeable enough with their tanks yet, and try to keep an anemone. This is a classic example why its recomended that the tank be a minimum of 6 months to a year.
What type of vitamins did you add? Reef supplements are not vitamins typically its dosing a trace element of some kind.

flushing a coral because you didnt want it anymore was not a good move! you could of easily of found a new home for it where it could be happy and thrive!

+1 on the flushing..
do you know where he went!!!!???
Its not that big of a 'hassle' and it can be done so dont get discouraged so easy and just flush. Anemones can and will shrink as part of thier normal life. you probably just ticked it off so it shrunk.
