does anyone have/had a harlequin tusk?

just wondering if anyone has any personal experience with one. it seems like an awfully beatiful fish, but i have never seen it in any fish store, nor have i really seen any information about it in the books i've read.
also, is there a big difference between the australian one and the indian ocean one?

My cousin has one in a 100 gallon tank. It is an awsome looking fish and it has a cool personality. They are kind of pricey though.

australians have more color. they are cool and love to swim alot. they also have blue tusks.

Harlequin tusks are great fishes. I've had one for a while. They are beautiful and good eaters. Mine loved frozen food (only). The cheapest I've seen them in NYC was around $50 but they are usually more expensive. They are quite strong too and if you get one of a decent size, they should cohabitate well with other fishes even triggers. Mine lived in a 55gal fish-only tank for a while. I put it during my tank cycle with some triggers and it did not bother him (although I would not do it again and bet on it). But you are right... I did not see a tusk in a NYC store for almost a year now...

I live on the west side of Pittsburgh and and my LFS has a nice one in his 250 gallon show tank, its been there for about a month ,he wants$99 for it.

I saw one today while looking for fish for my new tank. Is this fish acceptable in a reef setting? Sharks please help

they will eat inverts and should be "kept with caution" in reef tanks.

sorry for the stupidity. My reef tank is new. All I have so far is LR, LS, and clean-up crew. What are inverts?

Inverts refer to invertebrates (ie: sea anemones, shrimps, etc). I would not recommend a Harlequin Tusk for a reef tank. They are great fish for larger all fish tanks. They need lots of room to swim & a varied diet. Good luck.

Thanks. Any suggestions on fish? How about an Indigo Hamlet? I think I would like to stick with fish from Florida/Caribbean
