I want to keep a batfish are they reef safe? What do they eat? Are they hardy and any other info is needed. Does anyone have a pic. of a batfish or a site about them.

Orbic Batfish are the easiest to keep. I had one for 7 years. He was the side of a nickle when I bought him, and ended up being the size of a baketball. You need a good sized tank, I would recommend over 100 gallons.
Batfish have great personalities. I became as attached to mine as someone would a dog or cat.
Keep tankmakes that do not nip and are non-aggressive. I kept Butterfly Fish with mine and had no problems
Batfish are no reef safe, they will eat coral.

Batfish are very cool. I would recommend getting an Orbic over a Pinnatus. The Pinnatus are very difficult to keep in captivity. I have an Orbic in a 72 gal. He is awesome, they have a tremendous personality. Mine will eat out of my hand! :) I feed mine freeze dried tubifex worms and a variety of frozen food (squid, brine, etc.). My batfish is about 6" tall, I know I will need to find a bigger home for him in the near future. Excellent fish by any means. Good luck my friend.

not reef safe..I just had to get trade mine in at the lfs" an orbic "I got it when it was about the size of a quater and after 2 yrs he was about 15 in high and 10 in long..it was in a 125 gal, but I could see it should have more room so someone at the lfs knew of someone w/ a larger tank to take care of it..it was an awsome fish and I did not want to get rid of it
