Does anyone know what type of coral this is and why it is hanging over the rock?

I have this coral and it is always leaning over and has never standed up straight. Why is it doing this? My other corals are fine and healthy. The soft coral is even worse now and is really hanging down over the rock? HELP???
I use the following supplements Iodine, Coral Vite, Coral food and S & M and Calcuim.

I am currently using TWO 65 Watt blue & white PC bulbs and they are brand new in my 29 gallon tank.
Light is on approximately 7 hours a day. Now what? LOL
Thanks,
Greg

all i know is my colt was limp for the first week i had it, then it perked up and is growing upright. i put it in moderate current as i read that they do well being thrashed around the rocks. seemed to work for mine. maybe it could use some current? just a guess though. not an expert on softies. still learning myself. <img src="graemlins//confused.gif" border="0" alt="[confused]" /> :D

it is not a devils hand, it looks more like a type of finger leather. Dont worry about it, everyone is right, it just does it once and a while. I know that with my leathers, if they are not happy about where they are placed, they droop. Every once and a while they do this. Are you adding the right chemicals into your tank for this soft coral??

Maybe try to keep your lights on a little while longer I keep mine on ten hours and all corals are doing great and I have no significant nuisance algae. Just a thought :)
happy fish keepin'

When I first got my finger leather (looks somewhat like yours) it was droopy for a few days and then perked up some. I changed current around a little to give it a slight "breeze" and it stood up even stronger, as if in defiance.
You may want to play with the current a little but give it a few days between changes to have an effect.
Good Luck!

I think it's a finger leather but still is not standing up after 4 weeks. I add Coral Vite, Iodine, S & M, Tech M to the Water.
Thanks,
Greg

Why are you only lighting your tank 7 hours a day? Most sources I have read say the natural cycle would be 12 hours of light and 12 hours of dark. I light from 10 Am to 10 PM. Maybe try giving them light for 12 hours a day and see if that helps.
