Does Anyone Love....

Does everyone else handfeed their cleaner shrimp?
I got the courage to today. I know they wont hurt me, but I usually just like to look at them. I've had Jaques (I know how original I am at naming!
for 2 weeks now and I love to hand feed him!! He jumps to my hand and "flutters" on my hand until I give him the pellet. He gets the pellet and jumps down. In no time he's back for more! I love doing this because he gets the food he needs and it doesn't break down in the tank before he finds it!!

I would love to see pics. if anyone has any! I'm going to get my fiance to take a pic. of this tomorrow when I feed him, I find this truely amazing!

believe it or not i have 3 cleaners in a biocube and everytime my hand is in there the start picking at it cleaning the parasites of our skin. There is a write up in a book i have that says that they can see the dust and skin mites on our skin that we would never see.

Me too. I don't hand feed them, but everytime my hand goes in the tank, they jump right on and seem to be enjoying themselves (does this mean I have dirty hands
)

I hand feed my sun corals every 1-2 days, sometimes a fish will suprise me and bump me it doesn't hurt but I flinch and one time got burned pretty bad on my Halide lighting.

Now this is not a "friendly" encounter. I think the cleaner shrimp have good intentions, but when a fish "bumps" you, this is not because he likes you. This is especially prominent in maroon clowns. They can be very teritorial, and when your hand goes in, that's how they remind you.

It made me jump a little the first time one did it to me. It is definitely an odd sensation.

Yep... since I got my cleaner 11 months ago I hand fed it... now when ever I stick my hand in there he hitches a ride all the way up to my elbow and back down again. I jump a little when he grabs an arm hair a plucks it out. He will let me hold him and tickle his tail now as long as im not too rough... LOL hes cool.

That certainly does not sound like fun!
It certainly wasn't fun lol. Now I'm scared everytime I put my hand in the tank b/c all my shrimp love to jump on my arm. I spend way too much time trying to shoo (sp) them away!

I'd say that was pretty unpleasant! I too would be pretty skeptical about the shrimp too.
On a happier note! I let Jaques flutter on my hand (when I didn't have food in my hand) This is an amazing interaction and I can't get enough of it!! I even had my fiancee feed him today and he loved it!!!

I added my cleaner crew last Friday. It included 3 peppermint shrimp - "the Three Amigos" (no individual names yet except 1, 2 and 3).
As of Saturday night I hadn't seen them eating so I put some flake food in the tank (with the PH off) but they just floated away.
Last night I took a pinch and held it down for them. I couldn't believe it! #1 ran right up to my hand, I thought he was attacking me; THEN he discovered there was food in it. He grabbed the food and quickly ran back under the rock and began eating. #2 and 3 both did the same thing. I was amazed! That was the last thing I was expecting! But I just thought that they were famished.
I picked up some pellets today to feed them. With all the experiences listed here, I'll approach this with a different attitude tonight. I'll try to get pics.
