Does Anyone Think that I can put a Pineapplefish in a 65 Gal.?

Hey does anyone think that I can put a pineapplefish in a 65 gallon tank with one juvenile blue hippo tang, a pair of perculas, a sleeper goby, and maybe a flame angelfish?

does anyone even know what a pineapplefish is? .. it's in my book .. "Marine Fishes" and the book says that the minimum tank size is 55 gallons but the fish gets to be 8 inches .. and i thought that that is pretty big for a 55 gallon fish ,,, can anyone :help: me?

A 65 gallon should be fine for this fish even though they do reach 8 inches. They do need caves and hiding places though because they are nocturnal. Cool fish.... jw how much you are going to pay for one?

Isn't a standard 65 gallon only 36"? If so, you shouldn't have him in this tank, because #1 they get too big for your tank, and #2, they need a temperate water temperature. They don't last long at tropical temps. If the tank is indeed 36" (and im 99.9% sure it is) then your hippo tang doesn't belong there either. With those its not volume, but surface area.

Agreed, this is NOT a fish for a standard tank. YOu must create a habitat for THIS FISH if you want to try and keep it. It has specific needs that are definitely not met in a typical community tank.
I would not recommend you keep it with the fish you intend to have. It is not suitable.

i believe they need to have dim. ive seen them at the aquirum(sp) and they had like led over them and that was all the light they had. they even had them in a close section with very little light.

yeah, that's because it's nocturnal .. but I guess I'll just keep the pole open and wait and see what everyone thinks .. but since 2 of the experts .. the starfish queen and the angel king say that i shouldn't I probably won't .. keep the votes coming! thanks everybody!

I think one issue with the poll is that it is a matter of "can it fit" in that size tank, which it might well do. The real question is whether it is suitable for a community tank...and there it is most certainly not, IMO.

If you are truly intrigued by these fish, read up on these kinds of fish. You could definetly have a neat species tank. I know Atlantic Trumpetfish make good tankmates, but they get really large. Get a bigger tank, (if you want, so you can get other things besides just him), or rethink how you want to do your 65.

I hope you have a fat wallet...they are extremely expensive. There are other great fish you could get at a reasonable price.. why risk it? Somewhere I saw one available the other day. :thinking:
