Does anyone use any other type of water besides RO/DI ??

Hello... I was wondering if anyone uses any other types of salt water besides RO/DI for their LR/FO set ups ? Or does any one have any other options that are available besides RO/DI water? I use RO/DI water, it wastes a lot of water making it..

I almost always use RO/DI water for my shark tank and always for my nano reef. Sometimes I use distilled on my shark tank though if I dont have any RO/DI.

I might get slammed....but.....I have always used tap water...conditioned.......for approx 10 years....rarely do I have a problem with algee...or health problems with my tanks. Seems to be working just fine for me....so why change....??

Conditioned tap in the eel tank, D.I. only in the reef.
Never had a problem with tap and algae or eel health (but I'm sure it depends how good your local water is...ours is decent)

Find someone with a good well is an option. I use well-water on my reef and fish and never had a problem. I do run the water through 3 Culligan filters which is not a very complex process and no water waste.

Thank You ! Iam just wondering with a saltwater Fish only tank. Do I have any options? Even tho. I use RO/DI water, It can be a pain in the *#% !

I tested it before I used it and have been using it for about 5 months and so far so good. I beleive there are others that use distilled water with no problems and I think a few people have said that the only problem was the distilled water they bought contained phosphates. Its 46 cents a gallon for the walmart brand distilled water(purple cap and label).

I also use well water.
I live in the country, out in the woods actually,no farms.
We had the water tested, no nitrates, no phosphates, ph 7.2
I have had no outbreak or problems with micro algae. Nitrates remain low.
It's free and it tastes good too....
