I sometimes put in the acclimation bucket with a newly aquired fish, though I do not always since I am not sure of it's effectiveness on a short term basis like that. I believe it is safe if you want to use it in your main tank but better get some more opinions.

I don't see any need to use it... although I think using it in the acclimation process is a great idea.
Get a RO/DI and you don't have to worry about chlorine or anything else.

Yes I use it and think it is awesome. One time my old damsel tore up the fins on my cb put some in, his fins were back to normal within a day or two.

I like using it in my acclimation bucket, but that is about it. Some of the stress coats on the market (such as Kent Marine's stress coat) will make your skimmer foam like crazy. I used it one time on my 75 and it had such a drastic effect on the skimmer, I could not turn the skimmer on for two weeks. I did two 20% water changes and it was still not out of the water. It was filling up my skimmer cup with foam/water in under 15 seconds.

Well I'm pretty sure it did cause I have a freshwater also and it works like magic in their too..maybe just better water conditions but I'm 95% sure it was the stress coat. Anyways I like it. It relaxes the fish.
