I am attempting to determine if VoIP service is for me.. so I was wondering does anyone have Voice over IP service if so with who and what do you think
My friend has Vonage and likes it. If your broadband goes down you can have the call routed to a cell phone. Make sure you setup 911 service though. Its cheap too
i have vonage and it is great. i'm mad i didn't switch over sooner. in addition to having calls forwarded to a cell if cable is down, you get a voicemail box. the voicemail can be accessed and played on your pc as well as a phone. not having to pay for an unlisted number is nice. fed and state no call lists don't matter any more

so is it basically a phone through your computer? Do you actually have a phone hand set or a computer head set? Can you have multiple rooms hooked up? Can you fax?

there is an adapter that goes from your computer into your phone - you can use any type of phone equitment
From my understanding there are features like locate me or Do Not Disturb that are very nice for the users - but I want to look into the conection quality as well to see is it truly the same or is their any type of echo and so on
NW2, if you go onto dslreports.com, there is a section for people that have VoIP, kind of like a forum. You can check out what they have to say there. They also have reviews of the services too on that site.
