Does ich discriminate?

Can invertebrates be carriers of ich? Well, silly me...the water they came in could have had it, right?
Does the hyposalinity treatment affect the inverts? Hm, I recall that yes, it does....so if I need to treat my tank of ich, I have to move the inverts to another tank.
Darn....is there another way to treat ich?

Since the organism that causes ich is an invertebrate, effective treatments for the parasite are all toxic to inverts. You will read about "reef safe" treatments for ich, but there is no scientific evidence that these are very effective. Your choices are hypo or copper, and both will kill invertebrates.

So here's a stupid question....what do I do? Do I move the coral banded shrimp and sand sifter to a QT? And in that tank do I have to have live sand? I guess I have to for the sand sifter and can they cohabitate in such close quarters? What about my live rock? Do I leave those in the regular tank and do the hypo or copper treatment on it?
If you would be so kind...perhaps you can read my original post and see if this is a ich problem or perhaps something else?
