Roggy, mind if I hitchhike on your post?
If a tank that was exposed to ick has had all the rocks, live sand, crabs, snails, etc., removed but has not finished the 4 week "ick cleanup" does the ick stay active in the water?
The reason I am asking is that I am moving all the live rock etc., from a 20 G into a 55 G. I will let that 55 run it's 4 week course because there was an ick exposed fish in the 20 G. The 20 G will then be made into a QT as per the posted instructions.
I am wondering if I can just re-use the water that is currently in there for the QT tank. (transfer to containers, clean the tank, then put it back)
I am trying to see is there is a way to get a jump start on the 3-4 quarantine of some clown fish that will be put into the big tank. They would finish their QT period about the same time that the big tank is free of ick.
Thanks,
Chris
