does it really mater?

does it mater a whole lot where i put my skimmer (turbo flotor) right now i have my sump/fuge set up so the water coming in from the overflow goes right into the fuge and then though a tank dividerd and then to my skimmer and return pump does it mater that the water goes though the fuge first or the skimmer first, same water right?

I've read that if it goes thro the skimmer first than cleaner water is flowing thru the rest of your fuge/sump.

It would be best if Skimmer & refugium were on parallel paths but it doesn't matter all that much.
