I USUALLY BUY MY SALT WATER FROM THE FISH STORE IN LARGE AMOUNTS AND I KEEP IT FOR ABOUT A MONTH OR TWO BEFORE IT IS ALL USED I KEEP IT IN AND OUTSIDE SHED AND SOMETIMES IT GROWS A LITTLE ALGE IS IT OK TO USE
Do you keep it mixing with a powerhead? I would assume that the water is fine even with a little algae. If you keep it in a dark container and keep it mixing I don't think it would be a problem. If you are worried about it get the water tested to see if the algae effected it.
HTH
In the past I have bought one of those blue water jugs from sams that looks like an old military gas can made specificaly for water. Its blue and plastic. I keep water in a couple for emergencies. Im not sure what your keeping yours in. The blue can is made specificaly so sun and light wont hit the water and make alge.
US Plastics has some *great* looking plastic barrels that are opaque and I think would work well for saltwater storage but I would somehow jury-rig a bulkhead fitting and run a powerhead to keep the water agitated.
Just my .02,
Paul
AS OF RIGHT NOW I DON NOT HAVE A POWER HEAD MOVING WATER AROUND IN THE CONTAINERS I GUESS I WILL DO THAT TO KEEP THE WATER QUALITY UP.
THANX FOR ALL YOUR INPUT
