It shouldn't, my tank may occasionaly smell if I disturb something but other than that it smells like fresh ocean water and you won't notice it unless the room is closed up.

Usually ordor is Nitrate...Test for it if you can smell your tank.

Both, But usually if your tank smells of amonia all your fish are dead...
So most of the time it your nitrates your smelling.
