does this sponge need special lighting??

I have some of this sponge that hitch hiked its way here and id like to keep it if it will live thru the cycling.. Anything I should do for it?

That looks more like dead porites skeleton to me.

Most sponges don't need special lighting and actually prefer shady spots.

they are hard, have been in the tank, are they going to rot?

If its hard, its dead, and no it wont rot. i have one on a hunk of live rock in my tank.

If it is hard then it is just the dead skeleton of a coral, no worries.
