Does you clowns swim through the rocks?

I have two perc clowns that have never gone through the rocks. They have gone inside the cave some but that is it. They like staying close to the glass on the sides and front. Even if I accidentally corner them with my algae magnet (I expect them to move before I get so close to them) the easiest escape would be to go behind the rocks but they won't. Do perc clowns just prefer the open or are mine scared of the saltwater boogie crab? I need to get my book out to see where they are collected. Maybe that will shed some insight.

ive had my false perc. clown for 9+ months and ive seen it go into the rockwork MABEY 5 times at the most, they seem to like the open space better

Tomato clown for 5 years. He used to sleep in a hole in one rock before we got BTA. He does go in, but definitely won't hang out in the rockwork. Nothing for him in there, not being a opportunistic eater.

Mine only go in the rocks near the anemone. Maybe checking that nothing is pestering the anemones foot that is in the rocks. Then back out.

my percs stay in one corner all the time. unless somethings going on in the tank, then they'll venture over to the other side. they NEVER go near the bottom of the tank and stay in the top 1/4.

All our GSM clown ever seems to do is swim around the top and hide behind the filter.

Seems to be the norm and I suspect for tank raised clowns and even more persistent behaviour, associating aquarium equipment with what they have seen from day one and most likely feel more at home with it.
