Does your 20k MH bulb burn through a really blue color?

When my lights come on the light starts out very low and gets brighter and brighter very slowly until its totally full. Now my question is with my 20k bulb it burns through this really really awsome blue color and the corals glow like they are under Actinic lighting and it looks awsome. But then it goes away and goes to a more whitish color after about 3 minutes. Is this normal or is mine burning the wrong color?

hmmmm, mine stays really blue, thats why i run dual vho's along with it. what brand bulbs do you use?

I am using 175w 20k XM bulb.

When I first got mine they seemed very blue. Over the next few weeks they got whiter, but after another month or so they went back to blue and stayed. I also think that they are a little less bright, because I don't see ripples like I used to. This is over about 4 months.

I got a 20k XM that was only used 1 month at 6hrs a day, When I started it up I was suprised at how white it looks. I have it next to a XM 10k and you can definately tell a difference but its nowhere near as blue as I though it would be. It looks like a bluish white but definately just not plain blue.
