Yep. In dark areas. In lots of light they can turn almost white. My favorite.

I love the darker colors, but they prob. will turm white in the right right?

Great Great fish, They do grow very quickly. Make sure you have enough tank for them to roam. Great personality!!! Love to watch mine "flex" to his full size.

Mine looks similar to the one in the brighter pic. Very cool fish but can intimidate smaller fishes. Eats like a horse he will eat anything.

i didnt mean that they will turn, I mean they CAN turn different shades, like most any fish. Depends on mood. 98% of the time they have beautiful coloration. Mine will darken when lights out, brighten up a bit in the morning when lights come on...

I've got one and the colors are great. But he's a bit of a bully, and in my tank that's saying something!
